How many bedrooms/bathrooms are in the main house?
The main house on the bluff has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 with walk-in shower, 1 with large claw-foot tub). It can accommodate up to 12 guests comfortably. All come fully stocked with fresh bedding and linens.

How many bedrooms/bathrooms are in the cape cod cottage?
The Cape Cod Cottage, a century-old structure, is a 3-bedroom home with an open kitchen/living room, with one large bathroom featuring a shower and claw-foot tub. The cottage accommodates up to 6 guests comfortably.

What other features does the main house have?
The main house features a library with TV, powder room, large living room, office with internet, fax and copier, foyer, butler's pantry with laundry, professional kitchen, and formal dining room with a table seating 14.
What other features does the cape cod cottage have?
The Cape Cod Cottage comes with a dining area, working fireplace, as well as scenic views of the sugar maples, vineyard, orchard, gardens and shore. Outside you will also find a beautiful porch with a barbecue, dining area and herb garden.
Does the island come with a private chef?
Yes. We have a private chef on site that will plan and provide a fully customizable menu.
How do I get to Nautilus Island?
Fly into either Bangor International Airport or the smaller Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport, as these are the closest, both about an hour drive away. Vehicles can be rented at either airport or transportation can be arranged otherwise. Portland Airport is another option at 3 hours away.
Nautilus is staffed with a full-time manager/captain. They will be on site your entire stay and available to take you to and from the mainland when needed. Arrival by sea is the most appealing and historic means of reaching the Nautilus, as excellent anchorages exist for yachts of all sizes. However, the island is also equipped to accommodate chartered helicopters operating from the nearest major airport.
What are some of the activities you can do on the island?
Renting Nautilus Island offers a luxurious escape on a secluded private island paradise. Spend your days relaxing on the private beach, swimming in the harbor or heated infinity pool, or exploring the island's gardens and vineyards. In the evening, challenge your family or friends to a tennis match or unwind on the balcony by the firepit, all while soaking in the stunning views of Penobscot Bay.
What is the best time to rent this private island?
Nautilus Island's season runs from May to late October. However, those seeking the ultimate in quiet and natural beauty may want to think about a month or two in the winter. This is the perfect place to write, paint, read, or simply reflect in front of one of the many fireplaces, keeping guests warm against the winter snow.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, to protect the well-balanced ecosystem of the island, we are not accepting pets of any kind. If your companion is a registered service animal, please contact us before booking the island.
Is there internet/cable on the island?
Yes, the island is equipped with Starlink satellite internet service as well as Satellite TV services as well as smart TVs to ensure access to all your favorite streaming services.
Is there a Pool/hot tub?
This island features a beautiful, heated infinity pool and hot tub. Both the Cottage and Main House have access to the pool area. We do kindly request no glass in or directly around the pool.
